JD Valerio: Journal/News

Oak Park Farmers Market - Sacramento - June 12, 2017

Well, it is that time of the year again. The Oak Park Farmers Market in Sacramento! This is one of my favorite events to play at. There is a lot of stuff for kids to do (crafts, music, games). The vendors are mostly made up of local farmers and businesses. It is a great event for a date or to take the family.

I will be playing there on July 8th from 10am - 11:15am. Hope to see my Sacramento friends there!

Changes by Mr.and Mrs. Valerio - February 19, 2017

My wife and I wrote this song, CHANGES this weekend. She streamed the words in one take! We call that a "download". I only added six words to the end. I'm proud of Christa for coming up with these lyrics, they are heartfelt.

JD Valerio and Eric on Tuesday Nights at the Almond Tree in Roseville California - November 21, 2013

Howdy Music Friends,

I hope the Autumn is treating you well. I personally am getting excited for family time on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

For the next four weeks I will be doing a 3 hour show at the Almond Tree in Roseville, CA. These shows are free and for ages 21 and over. I will be joined by my friend Eric Maxwell on drums. The music will include covers of John Denver, The Killers, Smashing Pumpkins, The Cure, and a bunch of others. I will also be playing a ton of my original tunes. The fun thing about these shows is that the Eric and I will be jamming and making up songs on the spot. The last time we were at the Almond Tree I asked the listeners for a topic and ended up singing a fun made up song about doing dishes. The made up songs may be funny or serious, it just depends on the mood of the night.

If you are in the area, I hope you will come out sometime. Here are some details...

JD Valerio singing with the church band - September 6, 2013

This was fun last year:

We hold these truths... - August 28, 2013

50 years ago, Martin Luther King Jr. gave his “I have a dream” speech. His eloquent mantra of equality captured in the phrase, “let freedom ring” has rung through the decades inspiring further progress towards the goal of true equality. We still have far to go. My hope is that one day that the divides that we’ve developed as a human race will be completely destroyed. What can we do? We can make relationships with folks different than us. We can stand up for what’s right at work, in the family and in the church. In our heart is where all good things begin.

Four years ago, I sang in a little coffee shop in Minneapolis, MN. The entire show was recorded. My friend, Jennifer Levenhaggen played violin while I sang and played guitar. This song, Across Divides is one of my songs that I wrote in hopes to build on the dream of Dr. King’s speech given half a century ago. The photos in the video are from my travels to Egypt, Brazil and other places. The pictures are me messing around J. I’ve also included a link to the song, Gold, which my wife and I wrote. It is along the same lines.  Enjoy and celebrate diversity.
